WEST BANK, February 24, 2013 (WAFA) – Tens of protesters Sunday clashed with Israeli soldiers in demonstrations across the West Bank, condemning the death of a prisoner in an Israeli detention center, security sources told WAFA.
Violent clashes with Israeli soldiers broke out after the death of prisoner Arafat Jaradat, a father of three and charged of affiliation with al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, in Megiddo Israeli prison Saturday as a result to possible torture during interrogation.
Sources said that Israeli soldiers fired tear gas canisters, sound bombs and rubber bullets at protesters to disperse them, causing dozens of suffocation cases and injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Clashes also erupted in the town of al-Khadr and Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem, al-Jalma checkpoint north of Jenin and Huwara checkpoint near Nablus.
The protesters condemned the death of Jaradat and demonstrated in solidarity with the hunger striking prisoners in Israeli prisons.
