RAMALLAH, August 14, 2012 (WAFA) - The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory increased by 0.41% in July compared to the previous month, a statement by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Tuesday.
However, when compared to last year's July figures, CPI for June had increased by 1.97%, said the statement.
The change in July CPI was due to an increase by 1.15% in food and soft drinks, 0.39% in restaurants, cafes and hotels and 0.36% in recreational, cultural goods and services. While prices of textile, clothing and footwear decreased by 0.59% and transportation by 0.49%.
PCBS said CPI in July increased by 0.52% in the West Bank, 0.06% in the Gaza Strip and 0.18% in East Jerusalem when compared to previous month figures.
