RAMALLAH, April 29, 2012 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Salam Fayyad Sunday called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to make more efforts pressuring Israel to respond to the striking Palestinian prisoners’ demands.  

Fayyad, during his meeting with the head of the ICRC mission for Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territory, Juan-Pedro Schaerer, stressed the importance of pressuring Israel to stop its violations against prisoners and respond to their rights, guaranteed by international laws and agreements.

Fayyad and Schaerer discussed the prisoners’ conditions in Israeli prisons, particularly in light of the open-ended hunger strike prisoners started on April 17 to protest Israel’s violations of their basic and just rights.
