MADRID, April 25, 2012 (WAFA) –The Spanish government Wednesday condemned Israeli legalization of three settlement outposts in the west Bank, according to a statement issued by the Spanish Foreign Ministry.
Spain considered the Israeli act as an “extremely serious decision” that sets a dangerous precedent in relation to other settlement outposts.
It considered settlement activities to be illegal in accordance with international law, representing an obstacle for the achievement of a future peace agreement, and affecting the territorial contiguity of a future Palestinian state.
It said this decision will weaken diplomatic efforts exerted to rebuild confidence and trust between all sides, including the international Quartet’s announcement on April 11 as well as President Mahmoud Abbas’ letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
