RAMALLAH, April 25, 2012 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said Wednesday that the desire to achieve peace alone is not enough, but must be coupled with actions, according to a press release issued by his office.
He said in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements to CNN news channel that the facts Israeli creates on the ground indicate its determination to carry on with its settlement policy, particularly in East Jerusalem.
Abu Rudeineh said, “Netanyahu’s statements regarding his desire to reach peace and establish a Palestinian state require an immediate and complete halt to all settlement activities, the dismantling of all settlements, and the recognition of the two-state solution based on 1967 borders and international resolutions.”
He said if Israel adheres to these terms of reference, the Palestinian leadership will be ready to resume negotiations and achieve a just and lasting peace.
