RAMALLAH, April 25, 2012 (WAFA) – Israel's decision to grant legal status to three settlement outposts in the West Bank and the wide Palestinian and international condemnation dominated Wednesday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds highlighted this item as well and featured France’s condemnation of the Israeli decision, saying the legalization sends a very negative signal contrary to the interests of peace in the region.
News on the hundreds of striking Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails were also the focus of the dailies, as al-Ayyam newspaper reported on its front page that prisoners in Ofer military prison joined on Tuesday the open-ended hunger strike that started on April 17.
Meanwhile, al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli Prison Service transferred 140 striking prisoners from Megiddo prison to an unknown location, as form of punitive measures against them.
Al-Quds was the only newspaper to highlight statements by Ahmad Rwaidy, an advisor in the office of President Mahmoud Abbas, warning from further Israeli confiscation of Palestinian-owned property and land in East Jerusalem by evoking the Absentees Law.
